Chestnut boards were originally reclaimed from the cavity walls of a World War I bomb shelter on Kingsland Road, less than a mile from where the customer lived.

This was a brilliant project from Pete Masters, really nicely planned and done. Gave our tiny apartment a whole new look and made it more practical. Getting tons of complements, also for the fine detailing- Well done!

Sylvester Path is the oldest street in Hackney. Tucked behind the Hackney Empire, the path is flanked on one side by a wall dating back to 1666. Jean and David Field have lived on the path since 1986. They say that the path and its history are under threat from current planning proposals by Hackney Empire to construct a large building on its west side.

The Fields are part of the Save Sylvester Path campaign, which is seeking to preserve the history of the path, save the centuries-old wall and renegotiate a more suitable proposal for both the residents and the planners.

Hackney Voice went to ask them about their campaign.
